Who know there were so many forms of graphite??

And that it would become one of my favorite art supplies in all its forms to work into my art... not me... for many years!

It is the most versatile material.

The color.

The metallic sheen.

The different forms.

Water-soluble vs not water-soluble...

need I go on? It is the best!!

Below I'm going to show you all the forms I use... and how I use them.

I have a whole series of graphite classes HERE for you

And I have even more on my Skill Art Channel that you can check out

The most common form of graphite we think of is the humble pencil. I love using all my pencils. The regular ones you sharpen, the mechanical ones with the lead, and the ones that are water-soluble. These are perfect for mark-making and fine lines! If I'm smashing these around with water - then I usually love the 6b water-soluble pencil best.

These big chunky fellas are water-soluble sticks. They are perfect for large marks and smearing around with water. I love the softest ones most and usually use the 10b one.

Fluid Graphite... this stuff is a new discovery for me... and is so cool. It is a sludgy gray material that you can paint on like paint and thin down with water.

Graphite powder!! Fun stuff. Perfect for mixing into other pigments and paints. I use them in making some graphite watercolors - so cool... turns the colors into a smoky version of that color, and has a slight metallic sheen that can be buffed to a shine.

Graphite watercolors!! This is the product that really kicked started my love of all things graphite. These are colors mixed with graphite and made into watercolors. And some of my very favorite watercolors I might add!

The graphite watercolors are so smoky and beautiful! You’d love them. That color box 2 is my favorite of the 2 boxes I’ve decided. I’m just so inspired pulling palettes to try out! Thanks for hanging out with me! 🙂
