Warm Earthy Gouache Studies in The Perfect Sketchbook
In this art journal session, I’m continuing in my Etchr Perfect Sketchbook with the Holbein Irodori gouache sets and filling a full spread with tiny abstract mixed media studies. These little paintings gave me a chance to play with earthy greens, ochres, rusty oranges, soft pinks, warm browns, and metallic line work while layering gouache, Kingart gel crayons, Neocolor II pastels, Blackwing pencil, Faber-Castell Black Edition pencils, Posca marker, Kuretake metallic watercolor, and gold and silver mica ink. I love how these small rectangles feel almost like little windows or abstract landscapes, with loose washes, dots, arches, scribbly lines, leafy marks, and bits of shimmer pulling everything together. Come paint along as I keep exploring color, texture, and intuitive mark making in this new art journal.
Looking for the supplies I used? I’ve listed all my favorite and most-used materials on one easy-to-update page here: https://2lilowls.com/favorite-supplies-for-mixed-media-abstract-art/
(Some of the links are affiliate links. If you use my link, I get a small commission, which will go toward my art supplies and to support this channel! I appreciate your support!!)
Note: I don’t list individual supply links on every post any longer, simply because keeping up with that for each video or project took more time than I have. Instead, I’ve created one easy-to-browse page where I’ve listed all my favorite and most-used art supplies. It’s always up to date, and a great place to find what I’m working with most often.
