Soft Stripes, Bold Arches & Playful Marks | Mixed Media Process

In this art journal session, I’m working in my handmade Bare Spine Beauty Journal with Deep Deep Light granulating watercolors, tempera sticks, Neocolor II pastels, Kuretake gold mica ink in a fine line bottle, Posca marker, and Faber-Castell Black Edition pencils. This spread turned into a warm, playful mix of coral, pink, orange, rust, and soft mauve layers, with striped bands, rounded abstract shapes, white dot patterns, pencil lines, and tiny metallic gold details woven throughout. I loved letting the color palette lead this one — building up soft washes, graphic marks, and glowing little accents until the pages felt full of movement, texture, and cheerful mixed media energy.
