Get into the holiday spirit with this mixed-media Christmas tree painting class! In this workshop, you’ll learn how to bring whimsical trees to life using watercolor and a variety of other art supplies.
We’ll start by warming up with some wonderful samplers, then continue by creating beautiful and unique larger Christmas tree paintings that can be framed and hung or given as gifts. You’ll also have the opportunity to create your own one-of-a-kind Christmas cards to send to your loved ones.
Whether you’re an experienced artist or a beginner, this class is designed to be fun, engaging, and accessible for all skill levels. So, join us for a festive and joyous experience, and walk away with beautiful art to display or give as a special gift.

Supplies:
This class is truly a mixed bag of options you can choose from to create your trees. Look through your own art supplies and pull out a variety to pull from. I am using anything from watercolors, acrylic paints, craft paints, acrylic inks, gold paints, and more – please don’t feel you have to use any of the materials I am using. I want you to take inspiration from the fun trees being created and use what you have on hand to create some whimsical art. I’m using in class:
- Canson xl 140lb watercolor paper
- Strathmore watercolor cards
- Various paints – watercolor, acrylic, acrylic inks, metallic
- Kuretake gold mica ink & paste
- Acrylic ink – Amsterdam silver, Liquitex gold, and bronze, Daler Rowney white, Amsterdam Carmine
- Craft paint: Folkart matte Greenscape and Folkart chalk paint sage
- Golden fluid – titan buff, titanium white, raw umber
- Liquitex basics – white, silver
- Dip pen – any dip pen is fine, I’m using my Kakimori dip nib in class
- Various brushes: I’m using – Princeton select #6 round blender, #2 fan bristle brush (can’t read brand), Silverwhite round #6, Princeton angle shader 1/2”, 3/4” Loew-Cornell 1811, Rafael soft aqua #0
- Daniel Smith watercolors – olive green, perylene green, garnet genuine, sugilite genuine
- Gelli plate
- Brayer
- Palette knives
- Posca pen white
- Ruler
- Paper towels
- Artist tape
- Heat gun
