I am so excited to bring you this online video workshop on creating textures. After more than a decade of creating textures for myself and then building a business on textures I sell, I definitely have some things to share on this subject that I think you are going to love! I will be showing you how I create real texture collections from scratch using lots of different techniques that include everything from things I paint to things I photograph. I’m holding nothing back as I let you peek inside my world of creating beautiful textures.

Who is this workshop good for? Photographers, artists, creatives, and makers  – who want to learn to create their own textures from scratch to use in their artwork, photography and maybe dip their toes into creating a few collections to sell.

Textured – The Art And Craft Of Creating Beautiful Textures

Your online video workshop includes tons of video tutorials packed full of great information, there are approx 18+ hours of video content in this workshop (with over 90+ videos) and you’ll have access to the 2 Q&A’s we did during the live round I did for this class when it first opened. 

This workshop is very maker oriented. That means that to make your own custom textures to use in your photographic art or create to sell – you’ll be getting out and taking photos to use and painting some of your own resources for yourself. This workshop is about the art and craft of texture creating – so instead of giving you a bunch of resources so that you are making cookie cutter textures – you’ll be making and creating your own resources to use in your own custom texture creations.

This workshop is no longer in its live session – it is now considered “self-study”. You can work at your own pace and participate in our Textured Workshop group to chat and share with other class members. 

In this online video workshop we will go over the basics and so much more:

• We’ll start out with a look back at past resources I’ve used over the years to create textures.
• I’ll show you my 3 favorite ways to start a texture from scratch.
• I’ll go over how to use your scanner.
• I’ll talk about what I look for when I am out shooting textures and my preferred camera equipment while I’m out.
• I’ll talk about making backdrops for print and give you my go-to tips for those.
• I’ll share my favorite stock sources for a few of your resource needs.
• I have tons of paint techniques I share including – acrylic paints, watercolor, Gelli plate, alcohol inks, milk paints, and more.
• I share with you my favorite vintage resources – including old papers, books, and more.
• We’ll look at photographing textures around your house and my very favorite item in your kitchen for textures.
• I’ll show you how I make real film textures.
• I’ll show you how I make faux film textures and black masks.
• We’ll take some bokeh and sun flare photos.
• I’ll show you how easy it is to make light leaks from your own photos.
• I’ll show you how I make black textures and transparent textures.
• We’ll take a few field trips to some of my very favorite places to photograph textures and to talk about what I look for.
• I’ll show you how I make those really cool vintage french photoshop brushes
• We’ll create some custom painted brush strokes for some cool photoshop brushes too
• I’ve also included a bonus section at the end sharing some information with you for creating and selling your own collections. My tips, tricks, and suggestions for getting started, what to include in your files, where to store your files on the internet, different hosting options you could consider, easy solution for making your graphics, what to include in your listings, and some advice on building up your business.
