“I may be hooked on freelensing I keep telling myself, Just one more shot..”
“Creative Flowers Workshop. Fluttering Petals technique. This workshop has stirred something in me.”
“So. I did my back yard homework and the winner is the 180mm macro lens. To my surprise, the 50mm with extension tube came in a close second, just ahead of the 100mm macro that has been with me since film days. The mirrorless zoom with close-up filter and the phone were not even in the running.”
“My first try from the Let’s Get Creative With Flowers workshop!!! So much to learn..Loving it..”

  • We will take several field trips – come along with me to some of my favorite places to capture flowers including your own yard, your neighborhood, the botanical gardens, your local garden center, a field of flowers, an aquatic farm, and a wholesale market.  I show you what I look for and give you my thoughts and ideas while I am there and what flowers shots I might try to capture.
  • I show you one of my favorite techniques I do with my cheap 50mm lens that lets you really get creative in camera shots with Freelensing.
  • We will take a look at focus stacking and how easy this technique is in photoshop.
  • I go through the photos we captured and give you my thoughts on them and my basic editing process in Lightroom.
  • I will show you my workflow in Lightroom for getting some great black n white edits.
  • I will show you my favorite, creative, “faux” double-exposure technique that I love that will give your flowers some dynamic movement and add some extra excitement to your photo in Photoshop.
  • We will look at an easy way to add painterly effects to your photos with Topaz Impressions.
  • We will also go into using textures in your photos to add another dimension to your photos and really elevate them into some beautiful photographic art. I am using Photoshop for this process but you are welcome to do these in any program that you are using that allows for layers such as Photoshop Elements, On1, Topaz Texture Effects, Lightroom with the use of a plug in like Topaz or On1, Gimp and more.

This workshop is packed full of good sound advice and practical information to help you get the most creative uses out of your equipment and really push your photography further.

Texture Basics workshop:

1 PDF guide – a great companion guide to go along with your workshop videos.

9 Videos – with approx 35 minutes of learning

In this workshop, we are going to cover all the basics for using textures in your photos. While using textures isn’t necessary for you to get beautiful creative flower photography – it is another tool in your creative tool box that you might consider to give your photos that extra dimension and excitement that sometimes only a texture can add.

  • I will show you what to look for when you are shooting photos for the intention to add textures.
  • What photos work best for adding textures.
  • How to organize your textures.
  • How to place a texture on your photo, using a layer mask, removing texture from your subject and still retaining the tones
  • How to manipulate the texture to better suit your photo
  • And we go into Blend Modes and Layer Opacities.

After going through this video series you will be able to start using and manipulating textures like a pro.
