Kandinsky-Inspired | How I Turned One Color Square Into Two Bold Abstract Paintings

In this bonus project for my Unlocking Kandinsky masterclass, I create two expressive abstract paintings inspired by one of the color palettes from our original concentric circle series.

Using Masha’s lush watercolors and a color palette from our past project, I let intuition guide the composition. Once the watercolor layers were dry, I added playful mark making with Neocolor II pastels, shimmering gold mica ink, acrylic markers, and graphite.

These layered pieces are full of texture, color, and creative freedom — perfect for artists looking to loosen up and experiment with mixed media techniques!

Looking for the supplies I used? I’ve listed all my favorite and most-used materials on one easy-to-update page here: https://2lilowls.com/favorite-supplies-for-mixed-media-abstract-art/

(Some of the links are affiliate links. If you use my link, I get a small commission, which will go toward my art supplies and to support this channel! I appreciate your support!!)

Note: I don’t list individual supply links on every post any longer, simply because keeping up with that for each video or project took more time than I have. Instead, I’ve created one easy-to-browse page where I’ve listed all my favorite and most-used art supplies. It’s always up to date, and a great place to find what I’m working with most often.
