Holbein Irodori Gouache Art Journal Session: Patterns, Layers, and Color
In this art journal session, I’m continuing my new Etchr Perfect Sketchbook with the Holbein Irodori gouache sets and letting two very different little paintings unfold side by side. One page became a playful abstract pattern piece with warm peachy washes, rusty red shapes, olive green stripes, turquoise pops, dotted marks, loose pencil lines, and floral-inspired motifs, while the other turned into a soft horizontal landscape-style study with glowing bands of coral, pink, ochre, green, and sunset warmth. I’m pulling from the mixed media supplies I’ve been keeping on my desk for this journal, including gouache, pencils, crayons, pastels, metallic watercolor, Posca marker, and fine line mica ink, and focusing on color, layering, texture, and intuitive mark making as the pages build. Come hang out and paint along as this new art journal keeps taking shape.
Looking for the supplies I used? I’ve listed all my favorite and most-used materials on one easy-to-update page here: https://2lilowls.com/favorite-supplies-for-mixed-media-abstract-art/
(Some of the links are affiliate links. If you use my link, I get a small commission, which will go toward my art supplies and to support this channel! I appreciate your support!!)
Note: I don’t list individual supply links on every post any longer, simply because keeping up with that for each video or project took more time than I have. Instead, I’ve created one easy-to-browse page where I’ve listed all my favorite and most-used art supplies. It’s always up to date, and a great place to find what I’m working with most often.
