Colorful mixed media watercolor painting with vibrant green, blue, and pink layers, enhanced with expressive mark making using Stabilo Woody and Posca pens.

From Splash to Snip: Finding Hidden Art in Watercolor Layers

Get ready for a fun and colorful mixed media art session! In this video, I start with a loose watercolor base using my favorite Daniel Smith watercolors in juicy shades of green, blue, and pink.

Then the real play begins—mark making with Stabilo Woody crayons, Posca pens, art crayons, and more. Watch as I explore color, texture, and spontaneity, then use premade mats to discover and crop out two beautiful abstract compositions from the larger piece.

If you love intuitive art, watercolor techniques, or simply want to get inspired to create without overthinking, this one’s for you!

Looking for the supplies I used? I’ve listed all my favorite and most-used materials on one easy-to-update page here: https://2lilowls.com/favorite-supplies-for-mixed-media-abstract-art/

(Some of the links are affiliate links. If you use my link, I get a small commission, which will go toward my art supplies and to support this channel! I appreciate your support!!)

Note: I don’t list individual supply links on every post any longer, simply because keeping up with that for each video or project took more time than I have. Instead, I’ve created one easy-to-browse page where I’ve listed all my favorite and most-used art supplies. It’s always up to date, and a great place to find what I’m working with most often.
