In this class, we will be taking a deep dive into the world of oil paint and cold wax. I got so inspired by the pieces I created in the Junk Art Collage class that I wanted to get back to painting some Oil & Coldwax pieces, in new color palettes, with the intent to cut them up for some reimagined art.
In this class, we are going to get out all the bad art we’ve created and make something amazing. You’d be surprised how well these turn out and how good you feel looking at them when you are finished. You’ll see lots of my own art experiments gone bad… and then see how amazing the finished art is after I cut them up and reassemble them into some cool collages.
In this workshop, we are going to be creating a collection from an inspiring idea. I was ready to get back to my “texture roots” for this workshop and focus on specifically creating some beautiful photos with the purpose of adding textures to them to complete my idea. We’ll take a look at what inspired me, paint some new backdrops, and create some photos with our inspiration in mind. I want you to see how you might go from concept to finished art through this process and feel comfortable creating your own art from something that inspires you when you are finished.
In this class, we are going to be creating some large abstract collage pieces. These are fantastic for learning how to "go large" for your art. We do a nice dive into the composition to get you comfortable with how to divide up your paper and know what areas you need to fill. This makes the whole process of creating large so much easier than just jumping in and wondering why things aren't working. Our goal is to create colorful, dynamic, textural, interesting pieces that really wow us.
In this class, we are going to be studying the Masters like Degas and Cézanne! I love the idea of doing some master studies to push outside our comfort zones and learn new things. In this class we aren't going to do the traditional study where we are trying to replicate whole paintings, we are going to study the color palettes the masters used and see how we can incorporate their color palettes in our own work.
In this class, we are going to be creating some whimsical, abstract floral art today. I know you are really going to love how easy these are to do, have some fun coming up with cool color palettes, and in general, have a great day making art with some of these.
In this class, we are going to be playing and experimenting with the Gelli Plate to create unique and interesting abstract prints. I love working with the Gelli Plate as it allows me to mimic some of my favorite Oil & Cold Wax looks without all the clean-up and drying time oil paint requires. I was inspired by some of these techniques and looks and figured out how to recreate them with my Gelli Plate.
In this class, we are going to be creating some of our own stamps and rubber combs to use in our art. I love it when all the elements you use to create your art are entirely unique and original. When you can use pieces that are not mass created and available to everyone. The more unique and creative your art is, the more your own authentic self comes through, and I love that.
In this class, we are going to layer watercolor, texture, and patterns to create these beautiful mosaic-inspired pieces. I love experimenting with color and pattern and know you will love this too. This is such a fun way to experiment with colors and try out different mark-making techniques. I think these look a bit like ceramic mosaic pieces or even stained glass pieces and that is what inspired this technique.
In this class, we are going to get creative with our paints and create some beautiful hearts with an inspiring meaning behind them. Kintsugi is the Japanese art of mending ceramics with gold dating back to the 15th century, a metaphor for embracing your flaws and imperfections.
In this class, we are going to play and experiment with color by allowing it to organically flow in water to create our final pieces. I love the serendipitous nature of creating in this way. Allowing the paint to ebb and flow in ways you couldn't replicate with a paintbrush and trusting that whatever you end up with you will love. I think that is why I love cutting up my art so much... it takes the pressure off when creating... and this organic flow process is that too - it takes the pressure off. You might even say it is a bit therapeutic... because there is something so relaxing and satisfying about watching paint spread out in the water.
In this class, we are going to create what I like to call beautiful messes... we are going to experiment with our supplies, our colors, and build our way up to larger abstract pieces as we go.
In this class, we are going to be foraging and creating tools to use in our art to create interesting and unique to us mark-making. We are going to be searching outside in our yards, gathering twigs, pinecones, straw, and more... We are going to be searching around our house, looking at the craft store, and going through our art supplies... to gather our own, or create our own, collection on unique mark-making items.
In this class, we are going to create some beautiful, dynamic abstracts. I am using acrylic inks in this class, but you are welcome to substitute inks for some supplies you have on hand like watercolors. This project would do well in a variety of mediums. I love the inks because of their vibrance and how beautiful the pieces turned out using them.
In this class, we are going to get creative with collage and embrace some grunge. Most of the art I like to create is always pretty... and sometimes it is good to step outside your comfort zone, and create something you might otherwise not have created. I think being uncomfortable at your art table helps you grow, get out of ruts, discover new directions, and in general, learn and push past your current level.
In this class, we are going to get creative with acrylic inks. This is a really fun medium to play in. It is highly pigmented and very liquidy. It flows beautifully when we add water and gives us this really beautiful vibrant watercolor-looking wash. The technique in class is super easy and the results are a really delightful surprise every single time.

I’m going to give you some fun ideas on using those to create some beautiful collage pieces you’ll love. We’ll be gathering up those scraps and making some new scraps to use in our art if you don’t have any scraps already.
