Today I decided to do a cookie set up and get my arm in the frame. I took tons of photos getting as many photos as I wanted before I moved on to the ones where I was planning for my hand in the frame. The light coming in the window today is so beautiful. Winter light just seems a bit softer than summer light. For the pics with my hand in the frame pouring some sugar topping – I put the camera on a tripod and snapped multiple photos while I was pouring to get the best options later for editing. I decided to go for a fun color on the base… my favorite color as it happens… teal… and the pretty plate I have the cookies sitting on belonged to my great-grandmother. I love using some family pieces in my set-ups occasionally. Makes the photos so much more personal.
For this set up I have a wood surface I’m set up on by my favorite window to photograph at. The crate is sitting on the table – but I just have it pushed back out of the way. It isn’t there to add anything to the photos.
I have the light coming in from the window softly from the left side and all off the lights in the room off so I only have the natural light on my setup.
For these photos, I was using my Canon 24-70 f2.8 lens. Canon EOS 5D Mark III | ISO1000 |1/1000s | f3.5
*The finished photos were processed with the Scrumptious Lightroom Presets included in the Lets’s Get Creative With Food Photography Workshop.
This is a pullback of my set up.
