It’s February… So there usually aren’t any flowers or flowering trees blooming, but this year the weather has been weird and I think the trees are confused! I came out of my neighborhood yesterday to this beautiful tree in full bloom and I grabbed a few branches to photograph.
For this set up I have a wood surface I’m set up on by my favorite window to photograph at. (I have my old chippy window sitting in front of my regular window – but it isn’t showing for this photo. Usually, when I set it there and it will be in the photo I open the window behind it so you don’t see the extra mullions behind the chippy frame.)
I have the light coming in from the window softly from the left side and all off the lights in the room off so I only have the natural light on my setup.
For these photos I was using my Lensbaby Velvet 56 lens – I absolutely love that lens. I use it set on about f4 – so it doesn’t have that glowy feel the lower f-stop creates but still looks very velvety in the finished photos. Canon EOS 5D Mark III | ISO320 |1/160s | f4
*On both these photos, I used Still Stories preset 20 and a texture from the Retro Surprise collection. For the Black/White photo, I then added the b/w foggy day action from the Oh The Places set action set.
In this photo below I’ve used a Still Stories preset (#20) along with a texture from the Vintage Film collection.
In this photo below I’ve used a Scrumptious preset along with a texture from the Winter Wax collection.
A beautiful & creative picture as always- thank you! I wondered if you masked off the sharp flowers or just used a change in blending mode for the texture?
Thank you! 🙂
I did not do any masking on these. Just layered the texture ontop and changed the blending mode.
Such a fan set up. The results are very beautiful. Love the Still Stories presets as well. Use them often.
Thank you! This is my favorite set I think right now with that pretty little pedestal I found at the antique market. It was such a find! 🙂
You definitely have the knack of finding interesting props. This image is gorgeous. I too follow Sebastian Michaels, Photoshop Artistry classes and loved your published article in Artists Down Under. As I am in Australia I like to follow the artists from ‘down under’ and aspire to create something that I would be proud to have published. I am looking forward to your new workshop.
Thank you! I’m always looking at the antique market for inspiring pieces – there are a few booths I stalk now since they usually have things I’ve never seen before. So glad you liked the article – Thank you! 🙂
Hello, I post process my photos with Capture One instead of Photo Shop or Lightroom. Will I be able to use your textures and presets with Capture One, or are they only compatible with PS/Lightroom?
The presets are only for Lightroom/photoshop. The textures work in any program that lets you add layers. 🙂
