Abstract Art Play: Watercolor, Posca Pens & Stencil Layers
In this video, I create a 12-square abstract watercolor sampler using a color palette from The Color Cube and Masha’s beautiful granulating watercolors.
Each mini painting explores color, texture, and layering with mixed media techniques, including Posca paint markers, stencils, and playful mark making.
This process is a fun way to experiment with new palettes, try out different tools, and spark fresh ideas for your art journal or abstract projects. Whether you’re new to watercolor or looking for inspiration to loosen up your creative practice, you’ll find plenty of tips and techniques to explore.
Looking for the supplies I used? I’ve listed all my favorite and most-used materials on one easy-to-update page here: https://2lilowls.com/favorite-supplies-for-mixed-media-abstract-art/
(Some of the links are affiliate links. If you use my link, I get a small commission, which will go toward my art supplies and to support this channel! I appreciate your support!!)
Note: I don’t list individual supply links on every post any longer, simply because keeping up with that for each video or project took more time than I have. Instead, I’ve created one easy-to-browse page where I’ve listed all my favorite and most-used art supplies. It’s always up to date, and a great place to find what I’m working with most often.

Check out beauty or cosmetic spatulas on Amazon. I bought the Spatty Daddy brand from my hair salon but then immediately used them for paint rather than cosmetics. They may help with getting the last bit of gold mica out of the bottle!
Great tip!! Thank you!
